This project started about 10 years ago when I met an amazing person named Rory Londer. He was a contractor that helped me fix up my old house in Rochester. We became friends over the years, along with his wife Lily, and he helped me retrofit a bathroom for my elderly mother when she moved to Rochester after my father died. When he heard it was for my mom, he refused to let me pay. I decided I would do a project with The Landing as repayment. Rory had previously been an addict and unhoused in Rochester and The Landing held a dear place in his heart and he continues to advocate for our local population of unhoused folks. I wanted to work with this organization and this was a way to connect authentically with a project that made sense. The Landing is hoping to move to a larger space and this art is portable, and adds some joy on a daily basis at the center.
