We started work on this outdoor mosaic in summer of 2025. I worked with youth summer camps and the day program for adults. The accessABLE program is designed for folks with intellectual disabilities. The space where they meet is just a short walk to the Silver Lake pool so it made sense to partner with them since their recreation program through the city of Rochester used the Silver lake facility regularly. The staff made the small fish, the youth and adult clients made the leaves, bubbles and flowers. The director Sue Miller made the monarch butterfly. All of the plants, and animals used as inspiration are native to Minnesota. I also had an ornament making day with everyone as a thank you for all of their creative efforts. Logan Guo made the rainbow trout and the frog, as well as working as my assistant at the end of the summer. Install is scheduled for Spring 2026 as soon as the weather is warm enough. The pool is scheduled to open in June.
